Visit with me Felgueiras

Escrito em 25/03/2019

This Northern Portugal county is shaped by a veritable palette of vibrant green landscapes, where rural and historical traditions are well alive and carefully preserved. Indeed, the sum of these features plays a key role in the region´s growth and development.

Known internationally for being home to a well-established footwear industry, Felgueiras is also a land of great wines and a producer and exporter of kiwi fruit. Embroidery works and string instrument manufacturing are some its richest traditional industries. Be it on foot, by bike or car, this county made up of contrasting features surely does offer many sightseeing opportunities.

Its monuments, like the churches of Santa Maria de Airães and São Vincente de Sousa as well as Santa Maria de Pombeiro Monastary are, in themselves, chapters in Portugal´s history.

There are also plenty of thematic pre-planned itineraries to choose from, like the Romanesque Route, “Vinho Verde” Route (wine route) and the Entrepreneurial Tourism Route.

Here, one can savor the region´s traditional gastronomy based on products of excellence such as Portuguese style stew, “cabidela” rice and a variety of roast meat dishes. On the sweet side, Pão de Ló de Margaride makes the honors as the country´s most famous and delicious sponge cake. And one can´t be indifferent to the locally produced wines, namely “vinho verde”. Indeed, from the simplest tavern to the most sophisticated restaurant, the offerings are aplenty.

Come, visit and discover Felgueiras!
